Lovers Walk Ceramics – Studio Rules and Attendance Agreement
1. Scope of Agreement
This document sets out the legal terms for all sessions, courses, and kiln services provided by Lovers Walk Ceramics. You accept these conditions in full by booking a spot or utilising our facilities.
2. Registration Fees and Booking
· Space in our courses is strictly limited and allocated to clients who book first.
· Class fees are due on the first of each month.
· We accept debit cards, credit cards, cash or EFT.
· For EFT payments, your reservation is only valid once you email us bank payment confirmation.
3. Cancellations, Absences, and Changes for:
a) Workshops:
· Notice of 5 Days or More: If you cancel at least 5 days before your session begins, we will issue a full refund.
· Short Notice (Under 5 Days): We cannot offer refunds for cancellations made 5 days or fewer before the start date, unless we manage to fill your spot from our standby list. Missing the launch date entirely results in a total forfeiture of your fee.
· Sudden Illness or Emergencies: If an unexpected crisis hits, you are welcome to transfer your slot to a friend or family member. Simply email us their full name and contact details. Alternatively, if a person on our waiting list takes over your spot, we will return your fee.
· Studio Cancellations: Lovers Walk Ceramics may cancel or reschedule any event due to insufficient attendance or unexpected operational disruptions.
b) Weekly Classes:
· If you are unable to attend your weekly class you may arrange to make-up your lesson in another weekly slot. This is subject to class availability and numbers in other sessions.
4. Monthly Membership and Lesson Structure
Monthly tuition fees are calculated and structured to cover exactly four (4) scheduled lessons per calendar month.
Because calendar months naturally vary in length, certain months will contain a fifth (5th) recurring day of the week.
On these occasions, classes will continue to run as normal, and students will receive their 5th lesson that month.
The instructor reserves the right to "bank" this additional 5th lesson to be used as a designated studio holiday later in the year.
This balancing system ensures that you always receive the exact number of classes paid for over the annual cycle without altering your flat monthly rate.
To cancel your monthly clay membership, please provide 30 days' (or one calendar month's) notice.
5. Clay Care, Kiln Risks, and Collection Times
· Pottery involves high heat and physical stress. While I handle your work with the utmost care, I cannot guarantee pieces will survive the firing process without cracking, breaking, or exploding.
· Studio firing risks are a natural part of working with clay, and we do not accept financial liability for damaged work. If a workshop piece fails in the kiln, you are welcome to come in and recreate it during open studio hours.
· Identifying Work: You must stamp or carve your first name onto every piece left for firing. We do not accept responsibility for untracked or anonymous items.
· Timeline for Firing: Turnaround times fluctuate based on local power outages (load-shedding) and studio volume. We will push to finish them as soon as possible.
6. Studio Environment and Conduct
· We enforce a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for everyone. We have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse, discrimination, or disruptive actions.
· Lovers Walk Ceramics maintains the right to deny entry or evict any individual from our premises or events for hostile behaviour.
7. Creative Materials and Ownership
· All instructional guides, unique lesson plans, and media created by Lovers Walk Ceramics belong solely to us.
· You may not copy, share, or reuse our studio materials for commercial purposes without explicit permission.
8. Data Privacy
· Your personal information is safe with us.
· We will never pass your data to external businesses unless required by South African law.
9. Social Media and Photography
· We regularly take photographs and videos during our classes and workshops to share on our social media platforms and add to marketing materials.
· By attending our studio, you consent to your image being used for these promotional purposes.
· If you do not wish to appear in any social media posts or promotional imagery, you must explicitly notify the studio staff in writing via email before your session begins.
10. Amendments
· We may modify these policies at any time to reflect studio updates.
· New terms become active immediately upon being published on our website.
11. Liability Release and Safety Risks
· Working in a pottery studio carries inherent dangers, including exposure to raw materials, sharp tools, and hot machinery.
· Lovers Walk Ceramics, its staff, and its owner are completely exempt from liability regarding any property damage, financial loss, injury, or death occurring on our premises or during our events.
· By entering the studio or joining a class, you willingly take on all associated physical risks.

By registering for a course, attending a class or dropping off work for our kiln, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to follow these regulations.
